Throughout November, The Imagination Lab has focused on heroes, including Hometown Heroes. During this afternoon's odyssey for Clarks Creek fifth grade students, Plainfield Police, Fire Rescue and 911 dispatchers were honored and talked with students about their roles in the community.
Once students broke into their small groups, they worked with wood and tools, including wood burning and stamping. Other stations included heart health, virtual reality exploration of the heart, and CPR instruction; learning about public safety careers; creating stop-motion animation based on interdependent learning; coding; and measuring elasticity.
Plainfield graduates from the 70s into the 2000s might recognize the lead learner (above) as Mr. Bruce Baker, former teacher, coach and guidance counselor at the Junior High/Middle School. He's now a regular volunteer at The Imagination Lab!
Not only are we incredibly fortunate to have something like The Imagination Lab - the space, materials, partners and staff, but it also takes MANY volunteers to assist with the daily odysseys. If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, whether weekly, monthly or even just occasionally, check out the information at this link: https://www.plainfield.k12.in....
