Meet Rachel Landis, 5th grade teacher at Brentwood Elementary School. Rachel, a PHS graduate, has taught in Plainfield for six years. In addition to her 5th grade class, she serves as the English Language Learner (ELL) coordinator for Brentwood, which means she supports the educational needs of students who do not speak English. Rachel also runs the school’s robotics program.
When asked about the best part of her daily work, she said “I love my job and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Interacting with students and seeing their success is very rewarding. Each student is a special gift and it is a blessing to be able to watch them grow in their own way.”
Rachel played on the golf team at PHS and Marian University. She and fiance’ Jared love attending PGA tour events.
Rachel wants adults to see young people the way she does. “They have so much to offer the world. They are excited to learn; they seek out things they find interesting, and they have a joy for life.”
