As teachers settle into their classrooms and finish all of the hours of required pre-FDOS (First Day of School) training, I wanted to share a few photos from this morning's welcome breakfast.
Many districts have fancy, fun and much longer welcome-back events, but our focus is on breakfast, highlighting some outstanding moments from the previous year and touching on a few important changes for the coming year, then getting our teachers back to their schools for their own preparation. No right or wrong way, but this is #ThePlainfieldWay.
We honored teachers who have served Plainfield students for 20, 25, 30 and 35 years, and then honored our Teacher of the Year, and Indiana Teacher of the Year Finalist Ann Mennonno. School Board President Jessica Elston gave a powerful speech that touched everyone's heart, and Superintendent Scott Olinger talked about many things, but with an emphasis on school safety.
We also took this rare opportunity to get some group photos, first of all teachers, counselors and administrators.
Then, we gathered all PHS graduates for their own photo - 52 strong!
And last but not least, our fearless leaders. Superintendent Scott Olinger (center) and Assistant Superintendents Jud Wolfe (left) and Pat Cooney (right).
Welcome back, everyone - we'll be ready for students tomorrow!
