PHS students had lots to check out & explore during last week’s state-wide initiative, College Go! Week. This was an exciting week filled with lots of information for students of all grade levels, with an emphasis on the Senior class as they are in the midst of the college-going process right now! Daily events helped set a tone of exploration and curiosity for underclassmen, while handouts and resources shared with upperclassmen reaffirmed the importance of postsecondary plans.
Our week consisted of:
Monday, 9/26: Kick Off! - announcement at lunch
Tuesday, 9/27: College Application Day - many Indiana colleges waive their application fee for this special week so a list of participating colleges was available for seniors to pick up at lunch; a table was set up in the lunchroom for application questions
Wednesday, 9/28: College Trivia – all grade levels participated during lunchtime college trivia with great prizes & giveaways
Thursday, 9/29: FAFSA Day - with the Oct. 1st opening of the FAFSA, information regarding this financial aid process was made available for seniors; a table was set up at lunch to allow students to create their FSA ID on the spot (students and a parent/guardian will need this 'electronic signature' before completing the FAFSA)
Friday, 9/30: College Gear Day - PHS teachers and staff jumped in on the fun by wearing college gear and sharing some info about their own college experience to wrap up College Go! Week
