For the third consecutive year, the PCMS Wind Ensemble Class is participating in a "Concert for a Cause" event.
Made up of 41 students in 8th grade, students get into small groups, learn about non-profit organizations in Hendricks County, then decide how to raise funding for the organization of their choice. They then plan/host an event that is focused around a live music concert.
Fourteen groups of students selected their own local non-profit organizations, presented to the class, then the class selected the top three groups. These top three groups presented to a panel of administrative leaders from PCSC.
This year, the administrative panel selected a group of three students - Violet Briggs, Bella Boley, and Kylie Hager. These students decided to raise money for the Hendricks County Animal Shelter through a Disney-themed event at PCMS. There will be a bake sale, two live concerts, animals from the Humane Shelter to be adopted, a photo booth, and many games for children to play. Together, students from the class will learn the music for their concert and help run the event on May 18th at PCMS.
On Tuesday, April 9th, the students that were selected to run the event visited the shelter to meet the animals, see the facilities, and talk to staff to learn about what they do and how we can support them.
The goal of this event is to show our students how impactful music can be for the community. We hope the event will continue to draw a crowd and raise support for our local non-profit organizations in Hendricks County.
