Amanda Johnson, 4th Grade Teacher, Van Buren Elementary

Meet Amanda Johnson, 4th grade teacher at Van Buren Elementary. Amanda just completed her first year in Plainfield after teaching for ten years at Mill Creek East Elementary.

When asked about her favorite aspect of joining the Plainfield Schools’ family, she replied, “I love being part of a school where being kind is the focus.” She went on to say, “our staff is very caring and generous. I have the best teammates who have helped make my transition to a new school seamless.”

Given ample time to pursue interests outside school, you would probably find Amanda spending time with her family. On her own, she enjoys reading, running and taking classes at the Aquatic Center.

Amanda summed up her views on today’s youth like this: “Kids are the same as always, they just want to know that they are cared about and loved. I feel that we do a great job of that here at Van Buren.”
