Reading is the basis of so many things that we do, and helping children learn to love, and yes, find the JOY in reading can set them on a path to lifelong success, and adventures.
Clarks Creek 2nd grade teachers get creative with the combination of joy and reading, when they host an annual campout (for a few hours, during the school day!) on the school's soccer field. This annual event is something students eagerly anticipate, as it includes many stations of reading-based activities, but all done inside one of several tents!
From the smiles on these faces, it's fair to imagine that the students spent a joy-filled day, had great stories to share with their families, and for some, at least, may be reading with a new enthusiasm. What a great way to celebrate reading and the great outdoors!
